Peonies

Peony season is highly anticipated at Florage, and this year was no exception. We harvested thousands of these fluffy, fragrant flowers, and, as usual, they were a hit with florists all over the northwest. Florage grows a wide variety of peonies, and some of our bushes are more than twenty years old.

Asclepias

Asclepias is a perennial must at Florage Farms, and this year, Florage grew three colors of asclepias: white, orange, and yellow. Asclepias is also called butterfly milkweed, and these beautiful flower clusters attracted gorgeous monarch butterflies all over the farm.

Penstemon is one of our favorite perennial wildflowers at Florage, and we’re in love with these tall, fragrant stems. The Penstemon harvest was plentiful this year, and Florage grew an assortment of different varieties all over the farm.

Bells of Ireland 2021

Bells of Ireland are a symbol of good luck, so naturally they’re a favorite at Florage. These tall, lime green spires are adorned with papery bell-shaped calyxes and tiny white flowers. They have a spicy, mint smell, and even though they look like they were plucked from an Irish fantasy, they are native to Western Asia.

Eremurus 2021

Eremurus, also called Foxtail Lilies or Desert Candles, have been towering over the fields at Florage since May. We love the bottle brush flowers and unique shape of Eremurus, and our floral artists look forward to them every year.

Sweet Peas 2021

It’s finally time to say goodbye to sweet peas for the year, and we will miss the twirly trellises and winged blossoms in the greenhouses at Florage. Sweet peas have a beautiful and light fragrance that fills the air and makes everyone feel extra happy.

Freesia 2021

Florage had a spectacular year growing freesia, and we’re going to miss the sweet perfume of these remarkable flowers in our high tunnel. Florage put great care in to planting and cultivating these precious, fragile flowers, and the results were stunning.

Poppy Power 2021

Poppies have been a blast to grow at Florage this year. We affectionately refer to these furry weirdos as “monsters” on the farm, and it’s not hard to see why. Poppies are a bit bizarre, waiting within their shells for the perfect moment to burst forth and show off their sunny colors.

Stock is the perfect blend of sugar, spice, and everything nice. These incredible smelling flowers have been in bloom at Florage since May, and we are still in awe over these fragrant bouquets.

The Baptisia at Florage is in bloom, and we love cutting these incredible stems. Baptisia requires extra special care to help it reach its full potential, and we’ve waited years for some of these plants to establish the root system required to bloom.

Viburnum is such a fun summer addition to our flower catalog. Florage harvests two different types of viburnum, Lacecap and Snowball, and I can never decide which is my favorite.

Daffodils 2021

This year at Florage, it was all hands on deck trying to get all these sunny beauties out of the fields in Idaho and Utah, through the warehouse, onto the trucks, and into the waiting hands of our florists. We had lots of different varieties of daffodils this year, the newest being Avalanche, the sweetest little bbs ever to grace the Florage fields.

Ranunculus 2021

Ranunculus season at Florage is slowly coming to a close, and it’s hard not to feel at least a little sad we won’t be harvesting many more of these gorgeous spring roses. This year at Florage we grew thousands of beautiful ranunculus and butterfly ranunculus blooms and sold them all over Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah.

Tulip Fever 2021

This year has been a huge year of growth for Florage Farms. We’ve amped-up production and tripled our output from 2020. Honestly, we’ve been busier than a cow on roller skates, but the results have been worth endless effort, sore backs, and sleepless nights.
